Studying the Anatomy of the iPhone 5 Mania

The coming of the Samsung Galaxy S III and the onslaught of other rival phones have put a large dent in Apple’s sales records as the tech giant reported the depressing decline of its third-quarter earnings recently. But in the face of this bitter truth, investors are still looking forward to a bright future for Apple, as the great distributing firm is already cooking up the sixth generation iPhone. Will it now usurp the ‘most amazing iPhone yet’ moniker that the iPhone 4S currently holds?

In its recent fiscal reports for both second and third quarter, Apple successfully sold a staggering number of iPhones- 35.1 million and 26 million, respectively. Presently, the rumor mills are again in the works as many tech analysts and consumers are anticipating the announcement of the newest Apple smartphone. They vehemently believe that whatever happens, this new phone will certainly amass a large scale of attention from the inhabitants of the tech world. In fact, Apple CEO, Tim Cook alluded to the coming of the ‘fall product transition’, dropping a close hint of when the next iPhone will be released.

According to Channing Smith, portfolio manager at Capital Advisors Growth Fund, the iPhone 5 will definitely sport a new set of features that will recycle the hype that it constantly called to itself in the past.

He said in a phone interview, "We expect it to have Near Field Communications (NFC), a larger screen, and a better camera -- we expect it will be done without conceding battery life. Apple needs to continue to improve the competitive advantages it already has -- the way Apple has built its ecosystem is brilliant. They've locked so many users into their ecosystem -- I think that gives them an enormous advantage.”

As far as we know, Smith has Apple’s largest holding fund. That figures.

Just like what happened previously, some tech blogs and news portals are already giving some predictions and suggestions of what the next iPhone will be called, or what new features it will offer now that equally competitive phone are successfully building up their growing presence on the market.

As with its name, the general agreement is that the newest Apple handset will be called the iPhone 5, although some- who are embittered by how Apple named the iPhone 4S- stick to Apple’s unpredictable tendency to add conjugations at the end of its product name. Who knows? The new iPhone might be called iPhone 4GS. Then again, this practice was entirely neglected when they conjured the name of the New iPad (which people adamantly call the iPad 3!).

We would love to talk about the possible features of the iPhone 5, but I guess it is more fitting if we do that in a separate article.
